Suing a Friend - Compensation for Road Traffic Accident

Apr 17 2012

On the eve of his wedding, our client was involved in a road traffic accident. He was a passenger in a car being driven by a friend. The driver was at fault for the accident and he was successfully pursued to settle our client’s claim. Our client could not subsequently enjoy his pre-booked honeymoon to the fullest and had to receive medical treatment whilst abroad.

All of this treatment was recoverable as well as a claim for the loss of enjoyment of his honeymoon. This case highlights that even if you are a passenger, the driver of the vehicle who may be a friend or family member may be at fault for the accident. The insurance company for will deal with the claim therefore it will have no affect on your relationship with your friend or family member. The case was conducted on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis and our Client received 100% of his compensation.
